John Protevi is Professor of French Studies at Louisiana State University. He received the PhD in Philosophy from Loyola Chicago in 1990. He is the author of Time and Exteriority: Aristotle, Heidegger, Derrida (Bucknell, 1994); Political Physics: Deleuze, Derrida and the Body Politic (Athlone, 2001); and co-author, with Mark Bonta, of Deleuze and Geophilosophy: A Guide and Glossary (Edinburgh, 2004). In addition, he is editor of A Dictionary of Continental Philosophy (Yale, 2006) and Founding Editor of the book series New Directions in Philosophy and Cognitive Science with Palgrave Macmillan. His latest book, Political Affect: Connecting the Social and the Somatic (Minnesota, 2009), reflects his recent research on Deleuze, dynamical systems theory, and the cognitive and biological sciences. Recent articles in this field have appeared in Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences and Journal of Consciousness Studies. He is also involved with the Critical Neurosciences project centered in Berlin.
