Patricia Phillippy is Professor of English Literature and Creative Writing in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Kingston University, London. Her primary area of research is sixteenth- and seventeenth-century literature and culture, with a focus on gender theory and women's writing. Recent publications include
Painting Women: Cosmetics, Canvases, and Early Modern Culture (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2006) and
Women, Death, and Literature in Early Modern England (Cambridge University Press, 2002). Her current project is entitled
Monument and Manuscript in Early Modern England: Material Texts in the Period of Print.
